Bradford Farm Availability & Updates 11/3/25-11/7/25

Halloween is behind us, Thanksgiving not too far out, days are an hour shorter now, and deer season is half over. Our crops are changing too, so have a look at our availability for this first week of November.

Here’s the Cliff notes: two new additions to our apple offerings- Pink Lady and Arkansas Black! Fresh, crisp and sweet Dorr Farms green beans and crunchy jalapenos! McNair fresh Fall peas! Okra is done, sadly. Might be the last week for muscadines, but we will just play that one by ear.

Lots of great root veg available, winter squashes and leafy greens, with more coming in the weeks ahead!

Looking forward to delivering the next five days of flavor!

SPECIAL REQUEST: We kindly urge you to consider adding at least one of our own Bradford Farm grown crops to your weekly orders. We are working with quite a number of other farms to bring you the best access to regional flavor that we possibly can, but the heartbeat of our farm is our homegrown crops. We can’t exist without moving our own crops too. So please review the crops we offer under Bradford Farm Crops below and consider adding one or more of them. It helps us more than you know.

Important info:

  • Muscadines - MIGHT* BE FINAL WEEK
  • OKRA has concluded, thank you for a great, long season.
  • Charleston Wakefield cabbage will be ready to go in 1 week!

⚠️ **Highlights of the week**⚠️

NEW! Arkansas Black Apples - Lively Orchards

A Southern heirloom and culinary staple in its native region (Arkansas). The Arkansas Black is small, dense, and glossy—beautiful dark red skin, looks black in some areas. Bright white and very dense flesh that is absolutely packed with intense apply flavor. Grown in the crisp mountain air of Hendersonville, the fruit comes off the tree firm and tart, then mellows as it rests, developing a deep, winey sweetness that chefs love for baking and aging. Stephanie Lively’s trees grow in mineral-heavy soil that gives each apple a bolder flavor.

Roast or bake them and they turn into something rich, balanced, and complex. Think cider, tart, or pork pan sauce. Arkansas Black is a connoisseur’s apple and it’s unforgettable once you’ve worked with it.

NEW! Pink Lady Apples - Lively Orchards

Crisp, vibrant and bright, Pink Lady is the apple that wakes up the palate. Developed in Australia and now thriving in the cool slopes of the Blue Ridge, this variety ripens late, soaking up the last stretch of fall sun. The result is that perfect tension between sugar and acid—sweet enough to eat raw, sharp enough to make a dish pop.

Stephanie Lively’s Pink Ladies are picked at peak maturity, giving them that signature blush skin and tight, juicy crunch. In the kitchen, they’re built for precision: slice thin for salads and cheese boards, dice for fresh slaws, or let them roast just enough to caramelize the edges while keeping their structure. This a chef’s go-to apple for flavor and presentation.
