This week we’re shining the spotlight on the new 2025 Sweet Potato harvest from Dixon Farms in Aynor, SC—fresh out of the ground and full of earthy-sweet flavor that comes with the first dig. We’re also excited to offer Wild Hope’s vibrant red radishes with tops, crisp and peppery, perfect for fall menus.
Our whole-plant Bradford collards are now back in full swing, bringing flavorful, tender greens to the season. And don’t forget—our fall squash selection is at its peak, with a wide range of varieties available, including a special heirloom: the Cushaw squash, an old-time favorite making its return.

⚠️ **Highlights of the week**⚠️
NEW! 2025 Crop Pee Dee Sweet Potatoes - Dixon Farm, Aynor, SC
‘Covington’ is an old, southern variety with rich, orange flesh, creamy texture and no stringiness. The flavor is mild and pleasantly sweet. We are working with 5th generation sweet potato farmers, Dixon Farms, out of Aynor, SC, deep in the Pee Dee region of SC. This region produces the best sweet potatoes in the state with its deep sandy soil and high water table. Three sizes available, medium, large and jumbo, in two case sizes, 20# and 40#.
NEW! Fall Crop Bradford Whole Plant Collards
Our fall crop of Bradford collards is finally ready to harvest as whole plants. They are loving these cool night temps and growing like crazy! With a little luck we will have collards now through winter. Offered in two case sizes, 10# and 15#.
Cushaw Squash
Paraphrased from online descriptions:
It’s an old southern heirloom. First listed in 1847 by New York seedsman James Thorburn as Green Striped Bell and most likely renamed by Burpee in 1883. It also goes by different regional names like Crenshaw and Cushaw.
“This is the tofu of squashes, as it absorbs the flavors of the food with which it is cooked. It has a very mild taste, certainly not sweet as the name might suggest. A white-and-green, pear shaped winter squash that can grow up to 12 pounds the variety stores well and has a greenish-white flesh color.”
It is an historical foodway of Appachia originally grown by Native Americans and incorporated into settler agriculture. It is still revered by both native Americans and mountain folk to this day.
